Our Unique Programs ◆Social Business Muhhammad Yunus gave a speech to my students when he came to Japan in July last year. He won the Nobel Peace Prize for his success of establishing social business. Since then, I have decided to incorporate his idea into "28 project." Social business is a way to solve social problems through business. We could solve social problems by volunteering or donating, but it has one drawback. Volunteers and donations often stop because people gradually lose their interest or because the economy goes bad. But if a business is successful and it keeps producing benefits, people won't stop their support. So, what I am thinking now is to make my students think about two things: social problems they want to solve and the business projects which can solve them. These can also be one of their career choices in their future. ◆ソーシャルビジネスの取り組み ソーシャルビジネスの成功によりノーベル平和賞を受賞されたモハメド・ユヌス氏が2011年の7月に来日し、その際に本校の生徒達に講演をしていただきました。その講演を契機として、28プロジェクトにソーシャルビジネスを取り入れる活動を開始しました。ソーシャルビジネスとは、社会の問題をビジネスで解決することです。社会の問題点をボランティアや寄付で解決する方法は、人々の関心が薄まりや景気の悪化で継続されないという欠点があります。しかし、順調なビジネスであれば、利潤を生み続けるため、問題解決も継続され続けます。そこで、解決したい社会の問題と、解決するビジネスの両方を生徒達に考えさせ、将来の夢の選択肢にもなるようにしていきたいと考えています。
